How to use this PoE2 Temple cheat sheet
This page is designed for the moment when you have a room offer or a half-built grid and need a quick decision. It does not ask you to read every room in order. Start with the run goal, filter to the matching family, and then compare the room's effect with the support it needs.
The useful boundary is simple: this chart tells you what to inspect, while the planner tests whether the exact rooms can be placed together. If a room looks strong but the route cannot reach it, the lookup result is a warning rather than a recommendation.
- 1. Pick the run goalChoose currency, XP, corruption, boss, or support. This removes rooms that are interesting but unrelated to the outcome you want.
- 2. Search or narrow the familyType part of a room name, or use the family filter to compare reward, combat, support, and specialist rooms.
- 3. Read tier and connection hintsUse the tier summary to understand what scales, then check the upgrade and connection hints before spending a Medallion or forcing a branch.
- 4. Test the real gridOpen the Vaal Temple planner and place the rooms you actually have. Confirm reachability, Generator coverage, and a fallback route before committing.
What the filters mean
The goal filter is a planning shortcut, not an official ranking. A room can belong to more than one goal because its value depends on the surrounding chain, the room tier, and whether your build can clear the resulting Temple safely.
The minimum-tier filter shows rooms with at least that tier in the site's room data. It does not promise that the next upgrade will appear in your run. Use it to find candidates, then confirm the actual room offer and upgrade conditions in game.
- Currency and loot: broad item, chest, rarity, or reward value.
- XP and density: monster flow, experience, and clear-speed support.
- Corruption: specialist rooms whose value depends on a narrower chain.
- Boss and unique value: encounter support, rare monsters, or unique-focused effects.
- Support and upgrades: Generator, Spymaster, Golem Works, and Thaumaturge-style scaling rooms.
Data limits and patch-safe planning
Room effects and upgrade chains can change when Path of Exile 2 changes Temple behavior. This page is a fast reference based on the room data shipped with the planner, so treat the live Temple Console and current patch notes as the final authority when the numbers disagree.
The chart cannot know which rooms your next Incursion will offer, whether you can clear the boss, or whether a route is profitable for your build. It also cannot simulate drops. Those are reasons to use the lookup as a filter and the planner as a layout test, not as a promise.
If a result seems missing, reset the filters and search a shorter name. If a room still does not appear, use the full guide or report a data mismatch after checking the current game version.
- Reachability comes before a high tier.
- A support room is valuable only when it supports rooms you will keep.
- Keep a fallback reward branch when building for Atziri or a specialist room.
- Recheck the live Temple after a patch or a large room-data update.
Quick examples by goal
Use these examples as starting filters. They narrow the search without pretending that one room is always best.
Currency fallback
Suggested filter: Goal: Currency and loot
Start with Smithy, Alchemy Lab, Sealed Vault, and the support rooms that keep the reward branch reachable.
XP route
Suggested filter: Goal: XP and density
Check Garrison, Synth Lab, Generator, and Golem Works together. Do not add density without checking clear speed.
Corruption chain
Suggested filter: Goal: Corruption
Compare Corruption Chamber, Thaumaturge's Laboratory, and Sacrificial Chamber before choosing a specialist route.
Boss preparation
Suggested filter: Goal: Boss and unique value
Use Commander and Flesh Surgeon as candidates, then confirm the route and fallback in the planner.
